< / > A Good Day August 31, 2005 *~* 9:45 a.m. Bonjour! Je m'appelle Lindsay. Un deux trois quatre cinq six sept huit neuf dix onze douze treize quatorze quinze seize dix-sept dix-huit dix-neuf vingt. That, plus the days of the week and a couple of classroom objects is my entire repertoire of French, but I think this class is going to be pretty intense. And enjoyable. My teacher is this nervous French man who practically quivers with excitement when he's teaching and we meet five days a week for an hour, so things have got to go all right. I can read most everything we've done so far because it's a Romance language and looks so similar to Spanish, but the pronounciation is way off and I figure that's the most important part. It's hard for me because I can remember most things but a couple I just desperately want to put a Spanish accent on and have to keep asking Steve and Gm how to pronounce them, over and over. Quatre and cinq would be those. Otherwise, things seem full of promise. The fact that I don't have a job or any real means of income is more than slightly worrisome, but I feel like between parents and friends and aunts and such I can probably pull it together. It's not like I could work more than a few hours a week, it would just be reassuring to not just take money out of my account and watch the balance fall every day. *sigh* But I like my classes alot, though it's occurred to me that I should probably take Chemistry. The Princeton Review said that according to their oh-so-scientific surveys Reed is the hardest undergrad academix experience, so I can't say I'm excited about another science here, but I could do it at UTD or PSU during the summer. Dum dee dum. Planning things out. . I don't have class until eleven on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and then on WF, I get out at one. That's lovely. I figure I can catch up on reading and work, get a job, go for a run, or generally take on the world in an Away From Reed manner and maintain some sanity and perspective on things. That'd be nice. So now I'm going to read more French and maybe sleep until class starts and be much more content than I was before. |
